The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is vehemently probing the high-profile rape and murder case of a female medico in Kolkata-based RG Kar Medical College. Besides, the Supreme Court is also holding frequent hearings in the case. The CBI filed its fresh status report in the top court on its findings, while the latter noted that the details couldn’t be made public and the federal probe agency needed more time to solve the case.

- A CBI official on Wednesday pointed out towards lackadaisical attitude of Kolkata Police in dealing with the case. The federal probe agency official said accused Sanjay Roy's clothes were not seized by the police for two days despite his ‘apparent’ role in the crime

- The CBI, during the SC hearing on Tuesday, ruled out gangrape theory. It said no evidence, suggesting gangrape, was found. However, the federal probe agency said all angles of the case were being comprehensively probed

- Doctors have been protesting the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which occurred on August 9. Her body was discovered in a seminar hall at the hospital.
