Shimla Temple Fire: A centuries-old temple, Baan Devta mandir in the Rohru subdivision of Shimla, Himahal Pradesh, caught fire on Thursday evening. The Baan Devta temple located in Malkhoon village of Bashla Gram Panchayat was completely gutted in the fire incident.
Forest Fire Reaches The Temple
The incident occurred around 5 pm on Thursday. It is reported that the fire first broke out in the forest near the temple on Wednesday night, which villagers managed to extinguish in time. However, the forest fire reignited on Thursday morning and reached the temple in the evening.

Villagers Unable To Control The Fire
According to the police, a villager saw flames and smoke rising from the temple in the morning. He immediately informed the people of Malkhoon village, the police, and the Rohru fire station. Upon receiving the information, villagers rushed to the spot and began efforts to extinguish the fire. The villagers tried their best to control the fire, but by then, the flames had completely surrounded the temple. A fire engine from the Rohru fire station also arrived at the scene on time, but due to the intensity of the fire, the temple could not be saved.

Investigation Into The Cause Of The Fire Launched
The police arrived at the scene, assessed the situation, and have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Happy Vanit Mehta, a resident of Bashla village, said the Baan Devta temple has been reduced to ashes in this massive fire. Upon receiving the news of the incident, villagers immediately started fighting the fire, but due to the severity of the situation, emergency services and the administration had to be informed immediately. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this fire.
