Delhi’s Bansera Park, located near Sarai Kale Khan, is set to get a Rs 4 crore Kashmiri-style houseboat. The project aims to evoke the charm of Dal Lake, with the houseboat blending traditional craftsmanship with modern amenities.
 
According to a report by the Times of India, the boat will be 60 feet long and will be intricately designed in Persian-style carving, showcasing the cultural traditions of Kashmir.

Bansera Park Houseboat: Details

- The houseboat will include a multi-purpose hall, lobby, pantry, store, eating and deck areas in the front and rear areas, as well as toilet facilities at the top deck.

- In the middle deck, there will be a meeting hall where around 15 people can be accommodated for various corporate meetings and other events, along with a balcony and a store.

- Those who want to visit this boat can do so through staircases provided on either side.

- The houseboat will be permanently fixed near the park’s cafe and is expected to s there for the next 50 years.

- Skilled craftsmen will meticulously carve ornamental details, Mehrab arches, and exterior panels made of cedar and walnut woods.

- The use of wood rather than concrete or steel was done keeping in mind the ecological integrity of the Yamuna floodplain.

- The Kashmiri-style houseboat at Baansera Park is expected to be completed by May-June 2026.

- The project is part of the restoration and rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplain stretch from Nizamuddin Bridge to DND Flyway on the western bank.

How Can You Book The Multi-Purpose Hall Of The Houseboat?

Once operational, you will likely be able to book it in the following way:

Official Booking Portals: Since the project is managed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), reservations for its multi-purpose hall, meeting rooms, and event spaces will be handled via the DDA Online Booking System for Community Halls and Parks.

For general visits to view the houseboat, you can book standard park entry tickets (currently Rs 50 per person) through the DDA Park Ticket Booking portal.
