Snow Avalanche In Sonamarg: A massive snow avalanche occurred in the Hung area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Sonamarg. The heavy snow slide hit a few vehicles on the Srinagar-Sonamarg road near Gagangeer. However, no casualties have been reported so far. The police team has successfully rescued two vehicles that were stuck under the avalanche.
This is not the first time when such incidents come to light. Earlier this week, the Bandipora-Gurez road in Jammu and Kashmir was blocked due to multiple snow avalanches.
Earlier in March, an avalanche hit a village in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district obstructing the flow of Chenab and triggering an alert in the adjoining area. However, no casualties were reported.
Earlier in February, a group of trekkers got stranded at Mughal Road in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district after avalanches and heavy snowfall. However, the police successfully rescued them.
