Srinagar Police is on high alert in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations on January 26, with robust security arrangements being put in place across the district. As part of these measures, the police conducted massive search operations in various rural areas of the district on Tuesday.
Search Operations And Area Domination
According to concerned officials, these search operations were carried out in the outskirts of Srinagar, including Takanwari, Karnabal, Shalbug, and Bakshipora. This move is part of the tightened security measures in the Valley ahead of January 26. An official stated that these operations are part of regular area domination exercises aimed at maintaining peace and preventing any untoward incidents during the Republic Day celebrations. He added that frisking has been intensified at the city's entry and exit points, and additional security checkpoints have been established throughout Srinagar.
Public Appeal And Main Event Details
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to citizens to cooperate during security checks and to report any suspicious activity or unclaimed objects to the nearest police station. It is worth noting that the main Republic Day function in the Valley will be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, where the state's Deputy Chief Minister is likely to hoist the national flag and take the salute during the march past. Security arrangements have been tightened across the Valley to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
