Indian Railway has introduced a summer special reserved train between Chandigarh and Howrah to benefit passengers. The initiative comes amid the increasing number of passengers during the summer season.
According to the railways, the train is set to make three trips in each direction, with the train departing from Chandigarh at 11:45 pm on April 18, 22, and 27, 2026, and from Howrah at 9:00 am on April 20, 24, and 29.
Taking around 30-24 hours, the train will cover the distance of 1,617 kilometres between Chandigarh and Howrah. The special train will have a total of 15 coaches, including nine AC-3 tier, four sleeper coaches and two power car/guard coaches.
Chandigarh Station Superintendent Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary stated that special arrangements have been made at the stations for passengers. If the passenger traffic increases in the coming days, additional trains may also be considered.
The train will stop at major stations such as:
- Ambala Cantt
- Saharanpur
- Moradabad
- Bareilly
- Shahjahanpur
- Sultanpur
- Varanasi
- Gaya
Departing from Chandigarh, it will reach Ambala Cantt at 12:30 am, Saharanpur at 2:25 am, and Moradabad at 6:10 am. The next day, it will reach Varanasi at 4:30 pm and Gaya at 9:10 pm, before arriving at Howrah at 6:30 am.
