SC On Bulldozer Action: After its sharp criticism of the 'bulldozer action' against accused in criminal cases by the state governments, the Supreme Court praised the submissions made by the Uttar Pradesh government on the issue, a Dainik Jagran report stated on Tuesday. Yogi Adityanath-led government has submitted an affidavit in the apex court, stating that no property belonging to a person was bulldozed without following the legal process therein.
The Special Secretary of the Home Department stated in the affidavit that any immovable property can be demolished under legal procedures, and we are adhering to that process. This comes as several petitioners moved the Supreme Court against the increasing trend of bulldozing the houses, shops and commercial properties of the accused by the state government.
SC's Sharp Criticism Of Bulldozer Action
In a sharp reaction against the practice of 'bulldozer action', the Supreme Court has launched a strong criticism of state governments for demolishing the homes of accused individuals, raising several questions on the practice. The Court stated that even if an accused person is proven guilty, it is not justified in any way to demolish their home.
'Will Lay Pan-India Guidelines'
A Supreme Court bench, comprising of justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, on Monday, indicated that it will lay down guidelines on the recent bulldozer practices opted by governments on immovable properties. The bench had also sought suggestions from the concerned parties over the issue.
'Won't Protect Illegal Encroachment'
