Tamil Nadu Assembly Election: Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday released the manifesto for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Chennai. The ruling party has attempted to lure in the voters of different segments by announcing initiatives related to youths, women, and students. While unveiling the manifesto, the chief minister asserted that it will continue the already implemented schemes in the poll-bound state.
Chief Minister MK Stalin stated that the government would extend the breakfast scheme for the students of government schools till class 8. He further stated that the monthly financial assistance for women would increase from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, directly benefiting more than 1.37 crore recipients.
Stalin also asserted that the elderly pension will be raised to Rs 2,000, adding that women self-help groups will be eligible for interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh. The chief minister also assured that benefits under the health insurance scheme will be increased to Rs 1 lakh.
DMK Manifesto: Other Key Announcements
- Free electricity will be provided to over 20 lakh beneficiaries
- The ruling party has also promised to provide pump sets without meters
- Free laptops will be distributed to over 35 lakh students pursuing higher studies
- Stalin has promised to double the number of dialysis units in government facilities
- The students will get financial support under the "Pudhumai Penn" and "Tamil Pudhalvan" schemes
- The ruling party has promised to attract investments worth Rs 18 lakh crore to boost the economy
Stalin asserted that the current government has delivered all its promises, further claiming that the people of the state do not seek a change. He also thanked the senior leaders of the party for drafting the manifesto and stated that the DMK will continue to work for the people.
