Tamil Nadu Political Crisis: The political crisis in Tamil Nadu deepened on Friday after the AMMK filed a police complaint against the TVK, accusing the Vijay-led party of using a forged letter of support to prove his majority. A massive row erupted on Friday after AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran alleged that Vijay's party was trying to poach his party's legislator Kamaraj. However, TVK later released a purported video, asserting that Kamaraj voluntarily extended support to the single largest party.
The statement from TVK also stated that the decision was backed by Dhinakaran himself. While accusing the AMMK chief of spreading fake information, Vijay's party stated that it was an attempt to deny the authenticity of the letter.
"These are the video visuals of AMMK MLA Kamaraj voluntarily and happily writing a letter expressing his support for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. He had stated that he was extending support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam with the approval of AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran," TVK said in its statement.
"However, the information now being spread that he did not write the letter is completely false and contrary to the truth. It is essential for everyone to clearly understand this. Concealing all these facts, TTV Dhinakaran is continuing to spread false news and misinformation," the statement added.
The TVK further clarified that it does not require negotiation with anyone to form the government. "The public should understand that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has no need to bargain or negotiate with anyone," TVK asserted.
As per the reports, despite tough negotiations across the parties, Vijay currently has the support of 116 MLAs, two short of the majority line. While the single largest party remains confident in forming its government, a delay has intensified the suspense. The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) stated that it will take the final decision on May 9.
