In the latest development in the Twisha Sharma death case, the victim's father, Navnidhi Sharma, made shocking revelations about her daughter's conditions in the last few days.
In an interview, Sharma mentioned that his daughter and Samarth Singh met on a dating app. The family gave approval to their marriage nearly a year after they were married. The deceased woman's father revealed that families at present do not demand a dowry directly. They pressurise people in different ways, without using "such a word." They create a situation in which money is taken out of your pocket. "No one says that; give me a dowry," he said.
The father narrated how the Singh family's demand kept on increasing. The Bhopal family repeatedly harassed Sharma. "After Twisha lost her job, their taunts started: 'How will we feed you?'" All these things came out," he said. The first incident occurred during the couple's honeymoon. Sharma said that a man never reveals his dark side in the beginning; however, Singh's attitude was seen in the beginning as a criminal mindset—a man who can push his wife by getting angry for some reason on her honeymoon at the airport. Twisha then asked her brother, 'Have I taken a wrong decision?'.
To which her cousin replied that a man can become "impulsive in something, so don't take it seriously; ignore that. We should not have ignored." Recalling that incident, Sharma said, "Daughters ignore a lot of things to save their marriage."
Samarth was like a "wolf in sheep's clothing," NDTV quoted Sharma as saying. Twisha's father also mentioned that their first daughter-in-law too had left him for harassment. "A lot of assurances were given, which later did not materialise," Sharma said.
'Life has turned into a living hell': Twisha
The conversation between Twisha and her mother also indicates that she was suffering in her marriage. On April 30, she wrote, "Kyu bheja mujhe yaha." Ye yaha baat hi nahin kar raha hai. Bhopal bula kar phir se sab natak. Mera jeevan narak ho gaya hai, Mummy. "This translates to 'Why did you send me to Bhopal? He is not even talking to me.' The messages show that Twisha asked her mother to take her back to Noida on May 7, five days before her death. Twisha told her mother that she feels her Samarth doesn't need her anymore and has been "tolerating" her for a year.
Further in the messages, Twisha said that her husband suspects her of infidelity. She wrote to her mother, "Mujhe pooch raha hai vo kiska bacha tha, aur main ignore karu??? ... Ye apne ghatiya pane ki har limit cross kar ke baitha hai. " Kaise reh lu iske saath?" He is asking me whose child it was, and you expect me to just ignore it? ... He has crossed every limit. How am I supposed to live with him?."
What DId Samarth Demand?
Twisha also claimed that Samarth demanded her father to apologise by rubbing his nose on the floor. The Bhopal bride described her husband and mother-in-law as ruthless and said that she felt suffocated in their house. "Mujhe bhaut zyada ghutan ho rahi hai, Maa. "I feel suffocated, Mother." Twisha Sharma's body was found hanging at her Bhopal home on May 12. While her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, has received bail, Samarth is still on the run after his bail was rejected.
