The Twisha Sharma suicide case in Bhopal continues to develop, with new details emerging almost every day. The case has gained further attention after an alleged audio tape surfaced on Thursday, making the matter even more sensitive.
Audio Clip Reveals Heated Exchange
The recording reportedly captures a heated conversation between Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired Judge Giri Bala Singh, and her brother, Major Harshit Sharma, which has now raised several serious questions and intensified public scrutiny around the case. According to The Times of India report, in the audio, Singh is heard raising questions about the deceased Twisha’s private life and her relationships prior to marriage.
During the conversation, she argues that the family has a right to know about their daughter-in-law’s past and conduct. She is also heard saying that “illicit relationships can be a habit.” Further allegations are made regarding Twisha’s relationships and trust in the post-marital context. She is also heard claiming that she had worked in Reshampura in Gwalior and had “worked with prostitutes.” Singh further says that “Some people sell their bodies and then they climb the social ladder.”
Twisha's Brother Raises Objections
In the second part of the audio, Major Harshit Sharma is heard strongly objecting to the questions raised about his sister and the allegations made against her. He questions how such personal inquiries, especially those concerning character, can be directed at one’s own daughter-in-law. The conversation between the two parties appears highly tense throughout.
“How is this logical to ask your own bahu (daughter-in-law)?” Sharma is heard asking, expressing shock over how a mother-in-law could question Twisha’s character and loyalty in marriage. Responding to him, Giribala Singh allegedly said, “This is my right to ask my daughter-in-law,” further adding that “any promiscuous behaviour after marriage will not be tolerated.”
Police Investigation Underway
It is also alleged that Twisha had told her brother about mental harassment and the use of abusive language by her husband, Samarth Singh. However, these claims and the audio itself have not yet been independently or officially verified. Police have taken the viral audio under investigation.
