Twisha Sharma Death Case: Twisha Sharma's husband, Samarth Singh, on Friday was arrested by the Jabalpur police after he surrendered at the district court there in Madhya Pradesh. Samarth Singh, who was absconding since May 12, withdrew his pre-arrest bail application today. He was taken to the nearby Omti police station and would be handed over to Bhopal police, his lawyer Jaydeep Kaurav said.
A video, shared by news agency ANI, showed him entering the court premises, wearing a face mask, cap, sunglasses and a cloth around his shoulder. Singh, who is a lawyer by profession, was evading arrest since an FIR was registered against him and his mother, former district judge Giribala Singh.
Twisha Sharma's Lawyer Alleges Misconduct By Samarth Singh's Lawyers
The advocate of Twisha Sharma's family has accused the authorities of protecting Samarth Singh. "The court has ordered today that (accused) Samarth Singh either surrender before the trial court or the investigating officer. The trial court is in Bhopal. Besides, there is the investigating officer, the SIT, and today an order has been issued that the CBI is involved. Look at how the son of a retired judge is being protected," Advocate Anurag Srivastav said.
"He has no authority to surrender in the District Court, Jabalpur. We learned that he has come to surrender. There has been no surrender. Inside the courtroom of the District Court, Jabalpur, Samarth Singh was sitting comfortably in the dark, with all the lights off, wearing a mask. The judge was not on the dais. There were three clerks present there. I asked them in what capacity they had kept him there. They had no answer to my question. As soon as Samar Singh saw me, he ran away. His lawyers pushed me away. I have no idea whether the police came here or not," he added.
Twisha Sharma's Second Autopsy Approved By MP High Court
This came hours after the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday ordered a second autopsy of Twisha Sharma by an AIIMS Delhi team, accepting her family's demands. Hearing a petition filed by Twisha's family, a single bench of the High Court asked the state government to make immediate arrangements for flying a specialised team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, to Bhopal for the second autopsy.
In another development in the case, the Madhya Pradesh home department issued a notification stating that it had proposed to transfer the investigation of the case to the CBI, and the state government had given the necessary consent under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act.

Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, married Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. Following her death on May 12, her family alleged mental torture and dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws. Police registered a case and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.
