The CBI’s 636-page charge sheet in the death of model-actress Twisha Sharma has detailed the initial movements of accused Samarth Singh after the FIR was registered. According to the report, Samarth went absconding soon after the FIR was filed and remained close to his home for the next one or two days.
Call details and location data cited in the charge sheet reportedly placed Samarth at the home of an acquaintance in Katara Hills at around 6 pm on May 13, 2026. The report stated that Samarth had a professional association with the family.
Investigators later traced his location to Barkhedi after contacting his mobile number. According to the report, Samarth was not answering calls while in Bhopal, but his phone was intermittently switched on, allowing calls and messages to reach him. These phone locations have since emerged as key parts of the investigation.
The charge sheet also revealed that Samarth’s anticipatory bail plea, filed to avoid arrest, was signed by his elder brother Siddharth Singh.
Apart from this, the investigation itself highlighted critical lapses in the initial investigation, questioning the handling of crucial evidence like CCTV footage and the alleged suicide belt. It raised concerns over crime scene management and the collection of evidence, pointing to potential flaws in the police's initial probe into her death.
Twisha Sharma died by suicide on the night of May 12. An FIR was registered at Katara Hills police station after midnight on May 13 under provisions related to dowry death and abetment to suicide. Samarth had reportedly left the house before the FIR was registered.
Following the case, police issued a lookout circular and announced a Rs 30,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts. On May 21, Samarth reportedly surfaced in Jabalpur, where he intended to surrender before a court. Bhopal Police subsequently arrested him.
