Madhya Pradesh: Massive violence broke out in Ujjain's Tarana region after a Hindu outfit leader was beaten by some miscreants after a minor dispute. The violent acts continued on Friday night even after strict guidelines from the district administration. Earlier on Thursday, a group of protestors vandalised some shops and vehicles near the bus stand of Tarana. Apart from this, cases of stone pelting were also recorded in the crowded regions of the city, leaving several police officials injured. The police stated that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter and assured that the responsible will not be spared.
Violence Near Bus Stand
While providing details, the officials stated that Sohan Thakur, a member of the Bajrang Dal, got involved in an argument with some people in the Madarbadi area over giving way to a bus. Thakur was reportedly attacked by some local Muslim youths following the argument, leading to the outbreak. An angry group surrounded the local police station and vandalised several shops and buses in the bus stand.
Tarana block medical officer Dr Pramod Argal stated that Sohan Thakur was brought to the medical centre with head injuries, adding that he was attacked with a sharp object. "His injuries resembled an attack with a blunt object, including a stone," Argal was quoted as saying by the Times of India. While providing the updates, Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma stated that an extra police force was deployed in the region to control the situation.
He further stated that the situation is under control, adding that a probe has been launched into the matter. "As many as six persons have been booked for attempted murder under BNS. The situation is under control. No further violence was reported," SP Sharma was quoted as saying by the TOI. He further urged the people from all the communities to maintain peace and not get involved in the violent activities.
