Jagran Correspondent | Muzaffarnagar: A pack of stray dogs attacked a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, severely injuring a three-year-old girl. The incident occurred when the toddler was sitting with her mother near the surgical board. A group of stray dogs suddenly attacked her, inflicting serious bite injuries. The minor is currently admitted to the hospital, where she has been undergoing treatment for the past two days.
What Happened At The Site
Mehraba (3), a resident of Sherpur village, was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. On Saturday morning, the minor's family brought her to the hospital. Following this, she was admitted to the emergency ward.
At around 8:30 pm on Sunday night, the hospital's power went out, causing the coolers and fans to stop working. The minor, unable to withstand the heat, sat outside with her mother. As the child was playing with her mother, a pack of stray dogs arrived and grabbed the child in their mouths and ran away. The street dogs then scratched and wounded the child.

Hearing the screams, attendants and others rushed to the scene, rescued the girl from the dogs, admitted her to the emergency room, administered anti-rabies injections, and provided treatment. The minor had suffered injuries in her stomach, legs, and hands. This incident has raised questions about the hospital's management.
Hospital Authorities Face Backlash
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Kumar Verma arrived at the hospital and inquired of the girl's family. People told the CMS that a pack of stray dogs roamed the district hospital premises. They were not adequately protected.
Meanwhile, Ankit Gurjar, the youth state president of Bhakiyu Tomar, will protest on Monday regarding the arrangements of the district hospital and will demand action against the negligent officers and employees.
Was Faulty Infrastructure The Main Problem
The district hospital had a shortage of anti-rabies injections for a week. On Friday, the government delivered approximately 250 coils of anti-rabies injections, which should only last for a week. The hospital lacks a generator in case of power outages. After the power went out late Sunday night, the mother and child were forced to sit outside the ward due to the heat.
