Banda recorded the highest temperature in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday at 47.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.8 degrees Celsius above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The district continues to remain the hottest region in the state amid an ongoing intense heatwave.
Several other districts also recorded extremely high temperatures, with most parts of Uttar Pradesh witnessing daytime highs well above 42 degrees Celsius.

Temperature Recorded Across Major Cities
- Banda: 47.4 degrees Celsius
- Orai: 45.8 degrees Celsius
- Jhansi: 45.5 degrees Celsius
- Prayagraj: 45.4 degrees Celsius
- Agra: 45.3 degrees Celsius
- Hamirpur: 45.2 degrees Celsius
- Lucknow: 42.9 degrees Celsius (maximum), 28.3 degrees Celsius (minimum)
The state capital, Lucknow, also continued to experience hot days and warm nights, adding to the discomfort for residents.
The IMD has stated that:
- Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely at isolated places during the daytime
- Warm night conditions may persist in some regions
- The heatwave situation is expected to continue across parts of the state
Meteorologists have warned that hot and dry winds are contributing to the persistent rise in temperatures across the region.
The heatwave has affected large parts of Bundelkhand, central, and western Uttar Pradesh. As per the advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is likely to witness similar weather conditions for the next few days.

The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences. However, the weather department clarified that a new western disturbance is likely to get active on May 28, leading to rainfall in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Along with rain, the residents are also expected to witness thunderstorms and strong surface winds. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius.
