Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: After a brief pause, the monsoon is set to become active again in Uttar Pradesh from Monday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an alert for moderate to heavy rain has been issued for the next five days in approximately 60 districts, including Lucknow.

On Sunday, most areas are expected to experience a mix of clouds and drizzle. The rainy season will continue until July 31. Maximum temperatures are forecast to remain below normal during this period.

Heavy Rain For Next 5 Days

Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that the monsoon activity will increase due to the influence of a low pressure area over southwestern Rajasthan. There are indications of heavy rainfall across the state for the next five days. On Monday, heavy rain will fall in approximately 60 districts, including Lucknow and its surrounding areas.

Alert For Strong Winds

During this period, an alert has been issued for thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 40-50 kilometre per hour in approximately 30 districts. The monsoon activity will have the greatest impact in eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Terai districts, where extremely heavy rainfall is expected.

Meanwhile, Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 1.5 degrees Celsius below normal, while the minimum was 27.4 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies and occasional drizzle and light rain in most districts brought pleasant weather, providing relief from the intense humidity. The Meteorological Department forecasts a decrease in rainfall from August 1.
