Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: The monsoon is progressing rapidly across Uttar Pradesh. Rainfall over the past three days has brought significant relief from the intense heat and humidity. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an alert for heavy rain has been issued in 30 districts from east to west from Thursday. In these districts, there is a forecast of thunderstorms along with strong winds at the speed of 60 kilometre per hour. There is also a warning of very heavy rain in Lucknow on Thursday and Friday.
Heavy Rains Lash Chitrakoot
According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, due to the effect of an active low pressure area and monsoon trough, the rain will continue in the state for the next three days. There may be heavy rain at some places in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ballia, Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Ayodhya and surrounding districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, heavy rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Meerut, Hapur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Agra, and surrounding areas of western Uttar Pradesh. The rain will cause temperatures to drop by up to 7 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, Chitrakoot recorded the highest rainfall of 144 mm, while Badaun received 94 mm and Siddharthnagar received 72.8 mm. A total of about 55 districts received light to heavy rain.
The Meteorological Department said that waterlogging, lightning, and strong winds could disrupt normal life in the coming days. There are also fears of flooding in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions.
The Meteorological Department has advised farmers to make proper arrangements for drainage of water in the fields during the warning days. The general public has been appealed to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, not to stay in open places during lightning and to stay away from trees and weak structures.
Maximum Temperature Below 35 Degrees In 50 Districts
The effect of active monsoon is now visible since the last two-three days. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in 50 districts of the state reached below 35 degrees Celsius. In five districts, the day temperature was recorded below 30 degrees Celsius. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature was 33.6 and the minimum was 27.4 degrees Celsius. The same situation will prevail for the next three days.
