Uttarakhand Train Accident: In a tragic incident in Uttarakhand's Chamoli, at least 90 people got injured after two trains collided inside a tunnel of THDC's hydroelectric project. The officials stated that the collision took place between two locomotive trains, adding that over 100 people were travelling in one of the trains. While providing details, District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar stated that the accident occurred around 9.30 PM on Tuesday night, adding that the rescue operation is underway.
The officials further stated that employees and engineers were traveling on a locomotive train during a shift change on Tuesday, reported Jagran.com. At the same time, another locomotive train was approaching from the opposite direction, resulting in a collision and the derailment.

The officials further stated that a freight locomotive train experienced brake failure and collided with a passenger locomotive train at the five-kilometer mark inside the tunnel. The collision took place when the employees and laborers were changing shifts and traveling by locomotive train. The tunnel boring machine (TBM) has completed seven kilometers of the tunnel from Hat village, while the entire tunnel is planned to be thirteen and a half kilometers long.

The officials stated that at least 90 passengers got injured after both the trains derailed after the collision. They further stated that the accident created panic among the passengers, adding that the fellow passengers helped the injured and informed the authorities. Kumar, along with SP Surjit Singh Panwar also arrived at the district hospital and met the injured. They also gave necessary instructions to the doctors and other hospital staffers.
