Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to AIIMS early on Sunday after experiencing discomfort and chest pain, PTI reported citing sources. VP Dhankhar was brought to the hospital around 2 am and is currently under observation in the Critical Care Unit (CCU).
The condition of 73-year-old Rajya Sabha Chairman is stable. Dr Rajiv Narang, the Head of Cardiology at AIIMS, is overseeing his treatment.

PM Modi visited AIIMS to inquire about VP Dhankhar’s health. "Went to AIIMS and enquired about the health of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. I pray for his good health and speedy recovery," PM Modi posted on X.
Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda also visited AIIMS to inquire about his health.
Dhankhar was born on May 18, 1951, in Kithana, Rajasthan. A former lawyer, he has been associated with various political parties, having previously been a member of the Janata Dal and the Indian National Congress. He served as the Governor of West Bengal from 2019 to 2022, before taking on the role of Vice President of India in 2022.

In 2003, Dhankhar became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contributed to the party’s campaign committee during the 2008 assembly elections. He also led the BJP’s law and legal affairs department in 2016.
