Chennai News: A nine-year-old girl was repeatedly attacked and injured by a cow on August 9 in Tamil Nadu's Chennai, when she was returning from school. The girl was accompanied by her mother and a five-year-old brother. The entire event was captured on a CCTV installed outside a home in the MMDA colony near Arumbakkam, where the incident took place.
The injured has been identified as Ayesha, a student of class 4.
The cow, which was walking with its calf, abruptly turned around and flipped the girl in the air with its horns, as visible in the CCTV footage. The cow then repeatedly hit and kicked the child.
Police said that after hearing the screams of the victim's mother, the colony residents chased the cow away that had attacked the kid. The calf was also shooed away.
The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to the police, Ayesha, her mother, and brother were walking behind the cow and calf, when her brother made some kind of noise. The cow might have been triggered by this.

Arumbakkam police filed a complaint against the cow's owner, S Vivek, 26, for recklessness and endangering lives. The cow was transferred to Perambur's cattle pound and then to Periamet's veterinary facility for a check-up.
