Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms across several regions today, July 30. 14 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of up to 60 km/h over the next few hours.

Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Issued For Delhi-NCR

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms across Delhi and adjoining regions, including Noida and Ghaziabad. Apart from Delhi-NCR, heavy rainfall is expected in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Update

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in key districts in eastern, central, and western Uttar Pradesh. Several major cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Noida, are expected to witness significant weather impacts, with isolated areas bracing for extremely heavy downpours over the next 24 hours.

Due to continuous moisture from the Bay of Bengal and an active monsoon system, this wet spell is expected to continue until August 1.

Advisory For Public

Authorities have advised the general public, particularly farmers, two-wheeler riders, and commuters, to remain vigilant, stay updated on local weather alerts, and take necessary precautions.

Assam Flood Toll Rises To 78

The death toll in Assam floods has risen to 78 following three recent deaths, two in Sivasagar and one in Golaghat. The flood-affected districts are: Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Biswanath, and Kamrup (Metro). Across 21 revenue circles and 551 villages, 300,031 people and 21,523.08 hectares of crop area have been impacted.

Meanwhile, the weather office has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms for the next three days in isolated places in Assam as well as neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, which could further impact Assam's bordering districts.
