Weather Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for the hilly states in North India. The weather body has issued a red alert for heavy rain in the coastal states of Odisha and Bengal. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. Meanwhile, showers continue in many parts of Jammu. The Katra-Sanjhi Chhat chopper service has been severely affected due to cloud cover. An orange alert has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir for Sunday and Monday.
Heavy Rains Hit Mumbai, Gujarat And Kerala
Heavy rains are battering Mumbai, and states like Gujarat and Kerala, Meanwhile, poor showers in parts of North and Central India have disappointed the farmers. Himachal Pradesh saw light snowfall and rain at several locations on Saturday morning leading to several roads being closed. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in some areas on Sunday.

Uttarakhand Weather
Heavy rains lashed the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand on Saturday. Dharchula in Pithoragarh recorded 82 mm of rainfall. The Tanakpur-Tawaghat-Lipulekh highway, which connects the district to the China border, has been blocked at five locations due to debris. The Kailash Yatra is currently suspended. IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Nainital and Bageshwar on Sunday.
On Saturday, 20,145 pilgrims from Baltal and Pahalgam visited Baba Barfani. So far, 32,313 pilgrims have paid obeisance at Baba's shrine in two days. Meanwhile, a group of 4,812 pilgrims departed for the pilgrimage in 259 vehicles from the base camp in Jammu early in the morning
Monsoon Shows Sluggish Progression In North, Central India
According to the data shared by IMD, the pace of monsoon is slow in a large part of the country, due to which a crisis has started looming over agriculture. Data between June 1 and July 4 shows that Uttar Pradesh should have normally received 118 mm of rainfall, but it has recorded 43 per cent less rainfall, i.e. only 67 mm.
The situation is more or less the same in Bihar, where rainfall has fallen only 97.8 mm so far instead of the normal 207 mm, which is 53 per cent less than normal. Punjab and Haryana have also recorded 27 and 23 per cent less rainfall, respectively. Chhattisgarh in central India also received 40 per cent less rainfall (136.4 mm) than normal.
