Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued widespread alerts for several northern states as dense to very dense fog continues to blanket the region, with visibility reducing to near zero in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

While this weather condition is expected to persist over the next few days, the weather department has indicated that two Western Disturbances will likely move into northwest India later this week, bringing rain and snowfall to several regions. Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and follow official weather updates to avoid inconvenience.

IMD Weather Forecast: Dense Fog And Cold Wave In THESE States

- According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense to very dense fog is likely in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, significantly reducing visibility during early morning and night hours.

- Similar conditions are expected to occur across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Bihar, with isolated dense fog also likely in West Rajasthan.

- These low-visibility conditions are expected to cause disruptions to road, rail, and air travel across North India.

- Cold wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Odisha. While the minimum temperatures across the northwest plains are expected to remain steady, they will stay consistently low throughout the day.

- Meanwhile, the higher reaches of the Western Himalayan region are likely to experience extreme sub-zero conditions, with no significant relief from the biting cold expected in the coming days.

Western Disturbance To Trigger Snow And Rain

- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that a Western Disturbance over south Pakistan and a cyclonic circulation over central Rajasthan are set to influence weather patterns this week, bringing rain and snowfall to several regions.

- Under the influence of the fresh disturbance, isolated to scattered light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh from January 18 to 21.

- This activity is expected to intensify from January 22 to 24, bringing fairly widespread rain and snowfall in the higher reaches on January 23.

- Uttarakhand is also expected to experience similar conditions on January 23 and 24.
