Weather Update: A thick blanket of fog engulfed several parts of North India on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, severely reducing visibility across the region. Prompted by this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for dense to very dense fog in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and north-central Madhya Pradesh during the morning and nighttime hours.

Meanwhile, a western disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall and snowfall to the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, with scattered light rain, thunderstorms, and lightning likely across Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh.

Dense Fog And Cold Day Warnings

- In its latest weather bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that dense to very dense fog is likely during morning and night hours at isolated locations in Punjab till February 3, West Uttar Pradesh till February 5, and East Uttar Pradesh till February 4.

- Additionally, dense fog is likely to persist till February 4 across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha, and North Madhya Pradesh, as well as over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till February 3, 2026.

Western Disturbance To Bring Rain To THESE States

- Under the influence of a western disturbance, isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), is likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on February 3. Similar conditions are expected to persist across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 2 and 3.

- Isolated to scattered light rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching 30-40 kmph, peaking at 50 kmph, is likely over Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh on February 2 and 3, and over the Gujarat region on February 3.

- The India Meteorological Department has also forecast isolated hailstorm activity over West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh today.
