Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for thunderstorms and lightning in seven states from February 16 to 18. As per the weather body, conditions are about to change in many parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR. According to IMD, a new Western Disturbance could bring rain and snow to the western Himalayan region and rain and thunderstorms to the plains of northwest India.

According to IMD forecast, there is a possibility of rain/snowfall at some places in Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between February 17-19.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms and lightning (30-40 kmph) are expected in the Nicobar Islands on February 16 and 17. Furthermore, isolated rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on February 17 and 18. Thunderstorms are also expected in Madhya Pradesh on February 18 and 19.

Uttar Pradesh Weather

Due to the activation of a western disturbance, the weather in the southern parts of western Uttar Pradesh will change completely on February 17 and 18. The temperature will rise by 2 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. Light rain and drizzle are expected in the districts of western Uttar Pradesh.

Uttarakhand Weather

According to the IMD, rain is expected in Uttarakhand on February 17 and 18. Showers are likely to hit Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand on February 17 and 18.

Himachal Weather

According to the IMD, rain is also expected in the higher elevations of Himachal Pradesh on February 17 and 18. Shimla, Mandi, Kangra, Sirmaur, Solan, Una, Hamirpur, and Kullu districts are expected to receive rainfall on February 17 and 18.

Jammu And Kashmir Weather

According to the IMD, rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir on February 16 and 17. Rain is likely in Srinagar, Jammu, Kulgam, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora and Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rajasthan Weather

Light rain is possible in northern Rajasthan on February 17 and 18. Strong winds will also occur during this time. Rain is expected in Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, and Churu in Rajasthan on February 17 and 18.

Madhya Pradesh Weather

Thunderstorms are expected on February 18 and 19. Rain is also expected in Seoni, Katni, Chhindwara, Balaghat, and Hoshangabad districts. However, the weather will be normal on February 16 and 17.

Bihar Weather

The weather in Bihar will remain normal for the time being, with no rain expected. However, moderate fog and cold may be observed in the Mithila and Seemanchal districts.
