IMD Weather Update: In view of a developing weather system, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (with speeds of 40-60 km/h) across several states over the next few days.

Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow the latest updates from the IMD.

Delhi Weather Update

Parts of the national capital and adjoining areas, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram, experienced a sudden weather shift on Tuesday as light rainfall and thunderstorms lashed several areas, including Dwarka and the IGI Airport. The sudden weather shift led to a drop in temperatures, bringing much-needed relief from the summer heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar conditions on Wednesday, warning of partly cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms and lightning across several locations in the region.

The Delhi-NCR region is expected to witness partly cloudy skies on May 6 and 7 before a shift to mostly clear conditions from May 8 until May 11. During this period, the weather office has forecast a steady rise in heat, with the maximum temperature likely to range between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Update

Heavy downpour across several districts of Uttar Pradesh over the past 24 hours has led to a sharp drop in temperatures.

The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in approximately 40 regions, including Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, and Agra. Other areas under alert include Pratapgarh, Sitapur, Unnao, Kheri, Amethi, Hardoi, Rae Bareli, Ghazipur, Fatehpur, Barabanki, Aligarh, and Mathura.

Rain Relief For South India

The IMD has issued an alert, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karaikal over the next six to seven days. This wet spell is set to extend into Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, due to the activation of cyclonic circulations and western disturbances.
