A Class 10 student in Sonarpur, located in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, died by suicide after her AI-generated nude images were circulated on social media, police said on Friday. She was found hanging in her room at her maternal uncle’s house.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead on Thursday night, according to a police officer.

"We have received a complaint alleging that a married man from the locality has been harassing her," he said.

Her family members alleged in their complaint that the accused had obtained her photographs and used AI tools to create nude images, which were later circulated online.

"The family also accused members of the man's family of participating in the harassment. They have demanded strict legal action against all those involved," he said.

The police officer added that preliminary findings indicate the teenager may have died by suicide after suffering prolonged mental distress triggered by harassment and online abuse.

In a separate incident, a couple, Shivani Tambe (30) and her husband Raj Tambe, were found dead inside their Bilaspur home on Monday, with lipstick-written messages on the walls pointing to a possible murder-suicide. The notes accused a man named Rajesh Vishwas of interfering in their marriage, with messages like “We are dying because of Rajesh Vishwas” and heartfelt words for their children. Neighbours said the couple, who had been together for nearly a decade and worked as cleaners, often quarreled over trust issues and alleged infidelity while raising their three young children.

Neha’s mother discovered the bodies after the couple failed to leave the house on November 24. Shivani was found on the bed, while Raj was hanging from a ceiling fan. Forensic reports indicated scratch marks on Shivani’s neck, suggesting possible strangulation before Raj’s death by suicide. Police confirmed a case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing, with forensic findings expected to clarify the sequence of events and the true circumstances behind the tragedy.
