Maharashtra Winters:  Winter winds are expected to arrive in several districts of Maharashtra in the coming days as a result of cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal. On Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a tropical weather forecast for the North Indian Ocean, which includes the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, for the next 168 hours.

According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the central regions of the southern Bay of Bengal, stretching up to 3.1 km above sea level as of 3 PM today. This circulation has produced scattered low and medium clouds across the southern Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Gulf of Martaban.

IMD forecasts that La Niña will cause warmer-than-usual temperatures in November 2024. Temperatures are expected to gradually decrease to between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius. Winter has already arrived in rural sections of the state, with perceptible mist in the air, offering much-needed reprieve to drought-stricken residents.

However, due to the effect of La Nina and recent cyclonic circulations in the Bay of Bengal, temperatures have not yet dropped as projected for mid-November.

The IMD is keeping an eye on the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal and how it affects weather conditions, although it is not yet clear how long this weather pattern will last. According to the IMD, there would be no immediate impact on Maharashtra's weather.

Region-Wise Weather

Western Maharashtra:  After Diwali, there have been reports of colder temperatures, especially in Satara district, where the days are still pleasant and the nights are cold. The minimum temperature today is about 17 degrees Celsius, while the highs in the afternoon are warmer.

Sangli District:  The weather is mixed, with clouds and sun sometimes interfering with farming operations. Temperatures in the district are predicted to be at least 19 degrees Celsius and as high as 32 degrees Celsius today.

Kolhapur:  Kolhapur's present weather is characterised by dew in the evening, warm afternoons, and foggy mornings. Temperatures are predicted to reach at least 19 degrees Celsius and as high as 32 degrees Celsius today.

Solapur:  Even though residents enjoy milder daytime temperatures, the colder weather persists. Forecasts are for a low temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius.
