Pune News: A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl under the promise of marriage. The incidents reportedly took place between September 2022 and November 2024 in the Chandannagar area of Pune.
The police acted on a complaint filed by the girl's mother after she discovered her daughter was pregnant. Upon questioning, the girl revealed that she had been in a physical relationship with the boy multiple times during the specified period.
According to a Hindustan Times report, authorities have charged the accused under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Both minors are residents of the same locality and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
In separate news, a Pune police constable lost Rs 2.3 lakh in a QR code scam. The incident occurred when the constable, residing in Saswad near Pune, attempted to pay a bill at a bakery by scanning a QR code. Following the transaction, unauthorised withdrawals of Rs 18,755 from his savings account and Rs 12,250 from his salary account were detected, leaving just Rs 50 in one account.

The fraud escalated when Rs 1.9 lakh was debited from his gold loan account, even though he didn’t share the OTP. The scammers also attempted Rs 14,000 worth of transactions using his credit card, which the constable managed to block by freezing his accounts and card.
Investigations reveal that the scammers likely gained access to his mobile phone and banking details via a malicious APK file. It is suspected that the constable clicked on a deceptive link that installed spyware, enabling the criminals to capture sensitive information, including OTPs. Police are probing whether the QR code itself led to the malware installation.
