Pune PMC Election 2026: Ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation General Elections 2025–26, the Pune Traffic Police has announced temporary traffic diversions and road closures across several parts of the city. The restrictions will remain in force for three days, from January 14 to January 16, to manage congestion during election-related activities.
In an official statement issued on January 13, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said the measures are necessary to ensure smooth movement of election material, voters and officials. Heavy vehicle movement is expected during polling and vote counting, especially near sensitive locations.
PMC Election 2026: Dates And Timings Of Restrictions
Traffic changes will be enforced between 6 AM and 7 PM, or as per the situation, on the following days:
January 14 (Wednesday): Distribution of election materials such as EVMs
January 15 (Thursday): Polling day
January 16 (Friday): Vote counting day

The traffic police have identified several busy zones where restrictions will apply.
Viman Nagar
Road behind Phoenix Mall (Maruti Showroom to Solitaire Building/Nikko Garden) will remain closed
Vehicles to divert via Viman Nagar Chowk towards Shrikrishna Hotel Chowk or turn left from Datta Mandir Chowk towards Nagar Road
Central Pune (Vishrambaug and Dattawadi)
Roads from Puram Chowk to Tilak Chowk and Alka Talkies to Tilak Chowk will be closed
Traffic to use Bajirao Road or Shastri Road via Senadatt Chowk and Dandekar Bridge
Lane from New English School to Visawa Maruti Chowk will be shut
Bajirao Road stretch from Savarkar Putala to N.C. Phadke Chowk will have restrictions
Hadapsar
Route from Shivsena Chowk to Sane Guruji Path will be closed
Alternate routes include Hadapsar Ves–Amardham–Malwadi and Gadital–Sanjeevani Hospital–DP Road
Camp and Samarth Areas
Roads from Power House Chowk, Sant Kabir Chowk and Remshe Gate towards Old Motor Stand will be closed
Traffic to be diverted via Shantai Hotel, Quartergate Chowk and Seven Loves Chowk
Koregaon Park
North Main Road from Lane No. C to Mahatma Gandhi Chowk will remain closed
Vehicles to use Koregaon Park Junction to ABC Farm route
Exemptions And Public Advisory
The restrictions will not apply to ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles and those on official election duty. Commuters are advised to plan travel in advance and avoid affected areas during restricted hours.
The elections will be conducted by the Pune Municipal Corporation, with authorities urging public cooperation to ensure smooth and orderly polling.
