Holashtak 2026 is set to take place from 24th February to 3rd March. Holashtak refers to the eight days before Holi, considered very special for devotion and spiritual practice. According to Hinduism, the period from the Ashtami tithi ofthe Shukla Paksha of Falgun month to the Purnima is called Holashtak. During these days, negative energy increases in the atmosphere and the planets are also somewhat aggressive, so no new or auspicious work, such as marriage or housewarming, is undertaken.

During this inauspicious period, the devotees can perform some remedies to protect themselves against negativity and misfortune. Below, we have mentioned 5 powerful upay that can be performed to receive protection against negativity:

Holashtak 2026: 5 Remedies To Protect Yourself From Negativity And Misfortune

1. Worship Lord Vishnu And Lord Narasimha

Since Holashtak is a time when Bhakt Shiromani Prahlad's devotion was tested, worshipping Lord Vishnu during these days is most effective. If you're feeling extremely scared or anxious, recite the Narasimha Kavach or chant the mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya. This might help create a protective shield around you that no negative force can penetrate.

2. Use Camphor And Guggul In Your Home

Cleaning the house isn't just about dusting, it also requires energy purification. Burn camphor, guggul, or lobaan every evening during Holashtak. Their fragrance and smoke are believed to expel bitterness and negative energy hidden in the corners of the house. It also helps in creating a calming atmosphere and reducing conflicts among family members.

3. Chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

The planetary positions are slightly weak during Holashtak, which directly impacts our health and mind. If you are frequently falling ill or having negative thoughts, chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra at least 108 times daily. This mantra is the power of Lord Shiva himself, keeping untimely death and misfortune at bay.

4. Mopping Floor And Taking Bath With Rock Salt Water

Salt water mopping and bath salt are the oldest and most effective methods for absorbing negativity. Add a pinch of salt to your bathwater during Holashtak. Also, make sure to add salt to the water when mopping the house. This remedy is believed to clear the aura of both body and home.
