According to astrology, having certain doshas or complex planetary combinations in the birth chart can have a significant impact in an individual's personal and professional life. Among them is the Kaal Sarp dosh, which is considered to be the most powerful and challenging planetary combination. Having this dosh in the kundali (birth chart) can cause delays in career growth, create anxiety and problems in marriage or relationships.
Let's understand in detail what Kaal Sarp Dosha is, how to identify it, and what remedies an individual should do to reduce its effect.
What Is Kaal Sarp Dosha?
In Kaal Sarp Dosha, Kaal means time and sarp means serpent. This dosh is also known as ‘Vipareeta Kaalsarp Yog.’ This dosha is formed in a person's birth chart when all seven planets: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn are positioned between Rahu and Ketu (the shadow planets).
These two planets symbolically are considered as the “Snake” and “Tail,” respectively. These planets are believed to weaken the effects of the other planets and are believed to take away an individual's good fortune and positive things.
There are twelve types of Kaal Sarp dosha, each based on the placement of Rahu and Ketu in different houses of a birth chart. Each type uniquely affects the individual.
