Sawan 2024: Significance Of The Sacred Mangala Gauri Fast

Women observe this fast to seek the blessings of Goddess Shakti, also known as Maa Gauri, who is revered as the embodiment of feminine power and virtue. Worshiping Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, is believed to bring numerous benefits and alleviate life's challenges. Unmarried girls pray to her for a suitable husband, while married women seek her blessings for a happy and successful married life. Sawan 2024: Rituals Associated With Mangala Gauri Vrat

Women traditionally adorn themselves with bangles, mangalsutra, vermilion, and flowers to honour Maa Mangala Gauri. They perform a series of rituals in a specific order: invoking Maa Mangala Gauri, Lord Ganesha, and all deities; listening to Goddess Gauri's story and arti; meditating (dhyaan); and offering flowers (pushpanjali). On the Tuesday of Shravan month, a special puja is dedicated to Parvati Devi, seeking her blessings for a harmonious and joyful married life.
