Singapore Open 2026: HS Prannoy orchestrated a brilliant comeback to topple the fifth-seeded Jonatan Chrishtie during his Singapore Open match, rebounding from a one-sided first-game loss to qualify for the Round of 16 in men's singles. The star Indian shuttler faltered in the first game as Chrishtie surged ahead early.

The Indonesian unleashed aggressive play and swept across the court brilliantly under immense pressure, forcing Prannoy to scramble and reclaim his form. Chrishtie dictated the rallies and coaxed Prannoy into errors, seizing the first game 21-10.

At one point, it seemed Prannoy was teetering on defeat as he appeared bewildered by Christie's speed and precision. But the Indian shuttler showcased why he commands the reputation of being one of the most aggressive big-match players.

Prannoy exploded back in the second game, completely reversing the match's momentum. He attacked the first few rallies and suffocated Christie’s attempt to rejoin the battle. Prannoy sharpened his aggressive shots and elevated his net play, dismantling Christie’s rhythm.

Prannoy eventually seized control and forced Chrishtie into unforced errors. Chrishtie crumbled against Prannoy’s late surge and surrendered the second game 21-12, drawing the score level.

With the upper hand, Prannoy charged into the decider brimming with confidence, but Chrishtie fought to keep the match fierce. The decider erupted into a tense exchange as both players traded points. Chrishtie briefly snatched the lead, but Prannoy maintained his composure and refused to let the match slip away.

Prannoy will battle the winner of the match between Kidambi Srikanth and Low Kean Yew in the Round of 16.
