India Open 2026: India's star shuttler P. V. Sindhu was eliminated in the first round, whereas Kidambi Srikanth has reached the second round on what was a mixed day for the Indian shuttlers in the ongoing India Open 2026. Sindhu, who played in the semis of the Malaysia Open earlier this month, failed to maintain her sublime form after narrowly losing the first round match to Vietnam’s Thuy Linh Nguyen by 22-20, 12-21, 15-21.

The former World No.1 Srikanth took the game deep to beat Tharun Mannepalli by 15-21, 21-6, 21-19, whereas Malvika Bansod, who returned after a long injury layoff, played patiently to beat Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po by 21-18, 21-19.

The Indian women's doubles pair also had a flying start as Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Thailand’s Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai by 21-15, 21-11.

The star Indian duo, who are in sublime form as they had defended the Syed Modi International title, where they defeated China's Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min.

But the mixed doubles pair had a forgetful outing as three pairs lost the first round match.

Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto lost to Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai by 15-21, 14-21, whereas Germany’s Marvin Seidel and Thuc Phuong Nguyen defeated Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde by 19-21, 14-21.
