Paris Olympics 2024 HIGHLIGHTS, 9th August: Wrestler Aman Sehrawat claimed India’s sixth medal at the Paris Olympics after winning his bronze medal repechage bout against Puerto Rican Darian Toi Cruz. Bleeding slightly from his nose by the end of the bout, the 21-year-old Aman attacked his way to a bronze medal.
India’s track and field events are over with the men’s and women’s 4x400m Relay teams bowing out in the heats earlier in the afternoon, with contrasting performances. Golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar also had forgettable outings in Round 3, to fall well below on the leaderboard.
On Thursday, Neeraj Chopra bagged the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw with the second-best throw of his career at 89.45m. Neeraj finished behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem who smashed the Olympic record to bag the gold with a sensational throw of 92.97m. The men’s hockey team also ended their Paris campaign on a high, beating Spain 2-1 for the bronze medal, taking India’s medal tally to five with a few days to spare.
