Sumit Nagal vs Juncheng Shang Highlights, Australian Open 2024: India's ace men's singles star Sumit Nagal faced a second-round exit from the ongoing Australian Open 2024 on Thursday after losing against China's Juncheng Shang 6-2 3-6 5-7 4-6 at Melbourne Park's Court 13 in Melbourne.
Nagal won the opening set with ease but went down in the next three sets. With Nagal's loss, India's participation in the singles event has ended.
Earlier, Nagal created history in the first round by defeating World No.27 Alexander Bublik, who is seeded 31st in Melbourne, in three straight sets to become the first Indian player to win at the Australian Open against a seeded player since 1989.
He had reached the main draw of the Australian Open having beaten Slovakia's Alex Molcan in the qualifying final last week.
