The design did exude some panache and was aided with top-tier hardware, but these days people are looking beyond just that, and usability accounts for a lot. With that said, Apple might be looking forward to fixing this with its next-gen iPhone Air model. Reports and leaks suggest that the tech giant might be ready to make a move.

Users had lauded the iPhone Air for its premium look and design, but that didn't stop them from highlighting its shortcomings, and the topmost discussed thing was its less than moderate battery life and non-versatile camera. Apple had positioned this device as a premium product, standing just next to the Pro models; thus, it made it even more concerning for users. With industry reports and leaks flying out now, they suggest that the company might be looking to address these shortcomings after all, with its next-gen iPhone Air, possibly the iPhone Air 2.
What Can You Expect?
The iPhone Air 2 is set to get a CoE (Colour on Encapsulation) display, according to The Elec and GSMArena. It’s thinner than the current screens and uses less power, which matters when you’re out in bright sunlight and your phone normally sucks battery to stay visible.
Because the display takes up less space, Apple could finally fit a bigger battery inside the slim body. That hits one of the biggest issues with the original model—its battery was “decent for its size”, but it still struggled to last a full day if you were using it heavily.
Another change is reportedly coming to the camera. Reports say Apple might add a second rear camera to the iPhone Air 2, likely an ultra-wide lens. The original iPhone Air had just a single camera — it took decent shots, but it didn’t offer the flexibility people expect now, especially with mid-range phones already packing multiple lenses. A second camera would give users more options for landscapes, group photos, and travel shots, bringing the Air series in line with current expectations.

iPhone Air 2 Launch Date?
As usual, the lips are sealed tight with this detail, and Apple doesn't look like it's in a hurry to deliver on this project just right now, with rumours saying that 2026 might not be the year that the supposed device makes its debut; 2027 might be a much more plausible date for that. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has also pointed out that the tech giant might not be treating this model as an annual refresh like its usual series line-up, which points to a much more extended upgrade cycle, maybe to work more on the shortcomings, aligning it more with today's practicality.
