Apple Siri Update: Apple seems to be quietly reworking one of its most familiar features, and this time, it’s going beyond just small upgrades. The company is reportedly preparing a much bigger AI push, with Siri at the centre of it.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a completely new approach, including a standalone Siri app that could change how users interact with the assistant across iPhone, iPad and Mac.

A New Look For Siri
Instead of Siri just popping up as a quick overlay, Apple is said to be working on a dedicated app-like experience. Think of it more like a chat interface, where your past conversations are visible in a thread, similar to the Messages app. You’d be able to scroll through previous queries, continue conversations, and type instead of always speaking.
There’s also a visual shift in the works. Siri could move to the top of the screen, possibly sitting inside the Dynamic Island. When activated, users may see prompts like “Search” or “Ask,” along with a glowing icon and a small “Searching” indicator. The idea seems to be making Siri feel more like an always-available assistant rather than a one-time command tool.
That said, none of this is final yet, and Apple could still tweak the design before launch.
More Than Just A Voice Assistant
The changes aren’t just about looks. The new Siri is expected to behave more like a chatbot. Users may be able to pin conversations, search through old chats, upload images or documents for analysis, and switch between typing and speaking seamlessly.
Apple is also testing a system-wide “Ask Siri” option. This could let you highlight text or content anywhere and send it directly into a Siri conversation for context, something that would make the assistant far more useful in everyday tasks.
Another feature in development is “Write with Siri,” which could bring AI writing tools straight into the keyboard experience.
A Smarter, More Context-Aware Siri
Internally, this upgraded version is said to be codenamed “Campo.” The bigger goal here is to make Siri more conversational and context-aware. Instead of just responding to commands, it could understand ongoing conversations and pull in information from messages, emails, and apps to complete tasks more intelligently.
This is something Apple has been trying to build for a while, and it looks like the company is now getting closer to that vision.
When Will It Arrive?
While Apple hasn’t officially confirmed these features, the report suggests that the new Siri could be unveiled on June 8 as part of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. The company is also expected to put a strong focus on AI at WWDC 2026.
Interestingly, some of these upgrades were originally expected to show up earlier, but now appear to have been pushed further down the timeline.
If this all comes together, Siri might finally move beyond basic voice commands and start feeling like a proper AI assistant that can actually keep up with how people use their devices today.
