Google used its annual keynote to introduce Gemini Spark, a new personal AI assistant powered by the company’s latest Gemini 3.5 models. Positioned as a more capable and context-aware assistant, Gemini Spark is designed to bring deeper AI integration across devices and apps, with Google also announcing a major upgrade for the Gemini app on Apple’s macOS platform.

As part of the update, the Gemini app for macOS will gain several new AI-driven features aimed at improving productivity and simplifying everyday tasks. One of the biggest additions is the ability to interact with local files directly on Mac devices. Users will be able to organise files, extract information from PDFs, and even move data into apps such as Google Sheets and Gmail without manually copying content.

Google is also introducing a new voice-focused experience inside the Gemini app. The updated system can refine speech-to-text input in real time by automatically correcting words and removing filler phrases such as “um”, “ah”, and “like” while users speak. The feature closely resembles Google’s recently announced Rambler experience, although the company stopped short of confirming whether both tools are built on the same technology.

Another notable upgrade is screen awareness. Gemini on macOS will soon be able to understand what is displayed on a user’s screen to provide more context-aware assistance. According to Google, this will help the AI transform casual spoken thoughts into cleaner and more accurate drafts while preserving the user’s original intent and tone.

The company said Gemini Spark and its advanced macOS capabilities will first roll out this summer in the US for subscribers of the Google AI Ultra plan. Meanwhile, the new voice-based AI tools for the Gemini app are expected to launch globally for all users over the coming weeks.
