There is no dearth of devices and companies when it comes to the smartphone scene in India; from top-of-the-line flagships to budget-affordable options, our market has it all. But if what the reports suggest is true, then an old player might be making a comeback to the Indian market, and that firm could be the Chinese smartphone maker Huawei, gizmos from which the Indian market has been missing out.

Tipster Sanju Choudhary recently claimed in a post that Huawei could be gearing up for a return to India. As per the post, the company may not come back with just one product but could launch a range of devices such as TWS earbuds, laptops, smartbands, smartphones and tablets.

He also shared a screenshot of the brand’s page on Flipkart, where a message appears that says, “Thank you! For visiting the page, launching soon!” This hints that Huawei’s products might soon go live on Flipkart for buyers in India.

What Does The Teaser Confirm?

From Flipkart's teaser, it can be seen that the company might be coming out with a new tablet, the shape and dimensions of which look familiar to the MatePad 11.5, which is already up on global listings. Although it has not been officially confirmed that the company will be launching the MatePad 11.5, it doesn't hurt to look at its specs, which are as follows. The Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2026) features a slim and lightweight design, measuring 6.1mm in thickness and weighing 515 grams. It sports an 11.5-inch 2.5K TFT LCD (IPS) display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an 86% screen-to-body ratio.

For optics, it includes a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The tablet packs a large 10,100mAh battery with 40W fast charging, along with dual microphones and a quad-speaker setup tuned with Huawei Histen 9.0 audio.

Huawei's Past in India

Many might not know, but the Chinese smartphone maker had a potent presence in the Indian market, although that started to decline from 2020, against the backdrop of tightened telecom rules, coupled with geopolitical tension that the country was facing with China at that given point in time. Now there are reports on the internet that suggest that the company might be looking towards re-entering the country's market. Huawei has claimed that it stands at the top of the smartphone market in its home country, with 46.8 million devices shipped in 2025.

What's Huawei's India Strategy?

The brand, upon re-entering the Indian market, might put its focus more on wearables and tablets, which would then be followed by flagship smartphones. Apart from that, a change of OS software would be new for the Indian crowd, as the company utilises HarmonyOS and, to be precise, HarmonyOS NEXT, which is completely homegrown, rather than its previous versions that depended heavily on Google Android. Although with that said, there still remains a long list of rules and regulations that the company will need to clear before it makes an entry, and how the company does that would be interesting to see.

Additionally, it is being predicted that the company will jump directly into the premium flagship segment rather than the budget or mid-range series where there is a lot of competition already.
