Elon Musk was recently in the news for a post about OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman with the launch of its video generation tool - Sora. In a recent move, the X owner also shared some insights into the prospective links between the new tool and Tesla's autonomous driving endeavour. The CEO shared that Tesla has been doing "real-world video generation" for roughly about a year.

Responding to a 24-minute clip from DrKnowItAll on X, with the caption: "What does @OpenAI's Sora have to do with @Tesla's FSD v12? Turns out a lot! OpenAI BOMBSHELL Confirms TESLA'S Thesis," Musk replied, "Tesla has been able to do real-world video generation with accurate physics for about a year." However, Musk posted that the output was not jaw-dropping since it was only trained on Tesla's data.

"It wasn't super interesting, because all the training data came from the cars, so it just looks like video from a Tesla, albeit with a dynamically generated (not remembered) world," @elonmusk added. While both the companies in question approached video generation for varying purposes, they converged in a similar solution, the host in the video noted. Musk may also train the video generator on outside content.

"Haven't trained with other video, but certainly could. Will do it later this year when we have some spare capacity," he added. For context, Tesla has released FSD v12.12 to customers, which promises progress in self-driving software. Coming to the tiff between Altman and Musk, the X owner recently shared a screengrab of a video generation prompt request for Sora shared by DogeDesigner on the platform.

As Altman asked users for prompts which will be used to generate videos from Sora, @cb_doge posted: "A guy turning a non profit open source company into a profit making closed source company." In the past, Musk has posted sharp remarks concerning OpenAI and claimed it transformed into a "closed source, maximum-profit" business.
