Elon Musk, the owner of X and a frequent contributor to the platform, previously made a controversial statement. In his statement, Elon Musk stated that he purchased Twitter for $44 billion in order to extend the "civilisational lifespan". Twitter announced in April 2022 that it would be acquired by Elon Musk for $54.2 per share in cash.
Following the transaction's completion in October 2022, Twitter was placed under private ownership. Musk responded to a follower on X in a recent tweet, saying, "I suspect Elon buying Twitter will be the most important thing he ever did."

"I purchased Twitter in order to increase the likelihood of a civilization's survival," stated the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, who has approximately 172.7 million X followers. In response to Musk, renowned writer Stephen King said, "Just because you bought something doesn't mean you own it.
"Musk wrote in a statement following Twitter's rebranding to X that the platform reached a record 541 million users in 2023. The CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, stated in December of last year that over 10 million users registered for X in a single month.
According to recent SimilarWeb data, in September, X's traffic decreased by 10%, from 6.4 billion to 5.8 billion. She has stated that the social media network might turn a profit in 2024.

In the meantime, Musk announced in his post that he will no longer be using his personal phone number and will only use the X video and audio call tool to communicate with others in order to promote the platform's audio and video call feature.
