This year's big expectation at the start from the tech industry usually comes from Samsung, as the Korean tech giant usually releases its flagship series smartphone this time around. Even though there are no confirmed dates yet, the end of February in 2026 seems to be a potential launch date. As usual, as the launch date gets closer, leaks and rumours have started spiralling all over the internet, giving us a small glimpse of what the new flagship series and Samsung's latest lineup could bring.
Now there are leaks about the base variant that are catching a lot of buzz on the internet, and this new rumoured upgrade could be a sign of relief for Samsung Galaxy fans, so let's take a look at it. While rumours for the Galaxy S26 Ultra say it will get a charging upgrade when it comes to speed, the other two models were, till now, not expected to get any major upgrade when it comes to charging. But new leaks suggest that the tech giant might be moving in a different direction this time, and even the base variant, the Galaxy S26, will get an upgrade in its charging speeds.
Ahmed Qwaider, a tipster, claims the standard Galaxy S26 may finally jump to 45W fast charging. If the leak holds up, charging speeds could see a meaningful improvement. The phone is also expected to pack a 4,300mAh battery, slightly larger than the 4,000mAh cell used in the Galaxy S25.
Despite being limited to 25W, the Galaxy S25 could already cross the 55% mark in just 30 minutes. With 45W support, the Galaxy S26 could realistically push close to 70% in the same charging window.
The S26+ model is expected to get 45W fast charging as well, similar to its previous version, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra is supposed to get a major upheaval with 60W fast charging, higher than its predecessor. Qi2.2 charging is expected for all three new models with magnetic alignment built in. The Galaxy S26 and S26+ are expected to come with 20W wireless charging, while the flagship high-end variant is expected to get 25W fast wireless charging.

As far as performance under the hood goes, the tipster has also claimed that the Korean tech giant might employ its Exynos 2600 chip built on a 2 nm process for the Galaxy S26 and S26+. While the Galaxy S26 Ultra might run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, even for global releases.
