Samsung AR glasses launch date: The wearable tech space has been gaining momentum lately, with companies putting out their new devices like smartwatches, smartglasses and AR/VR headsets. Similarly, the Korean tech giant Samsung has been reportedly working on some new wearable tech. According to reports from a recent earnings call, the company is looking forward to launching its next-gen augmented reality (AR) glasses, a company official confirmed. This also aligns with smartphone makers' past partnerships with global eyecare brands like Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for AI glasses. Although there are no official details about the final form factor and what the glasses have to offer.

Seong Cho, Executive Vice President of the Mobile Experience (MX) Division, during the earnings call expressed that Samsung aims to give “rich, immersive multimodal AI experiences” across several form factors, including smartphones and “next-generation AR glasses”.

If reports are to be believed, then the Samsung AR glasses could use Android XR OS, which is the latest OS for extended reality glasses, employed in the Galaxy XR headset. These AR guys might come with their own cameras and sensors as well.

Apart from that, these glasses are also expected to sport AI capabilities, and the tech giant has hopped on the multimodal AI bandwagon and how it stands to change human interactions with new tech like XR devices and maybe other wearables. Something like Gemini might run its AI suite, although nothing is official when it comes to software as of now.

Last year's reports suggesting Samsung's plan to release a new pair of smart glasses were buzzing; the device is codenamed "Haen" after a city in South Korea, Samsung's home country. The device was expected to feature a thin, lightweight design for everyday comfort and compatibility with different face shapes.

It was also suggested that the glasses would likely forgo a display, making them look like regular glasses or sunglasses, similar to the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. Instead, they were expected to offer functions such as video recording, music playback, calls, and social sharing. But it seems that did not materialise. But with an official announcement, the product seems to be on the anvil, and we could see it soon, maybe this year.
