Over the past few years, the PlayStation maker has steadily brought several of its big single-player exclusives to PC, usually a year or two after their PS5 debut. At the same time, its newer live service titles have launched on PlayStation and PC together. But that approach may not continue in the same way.
A Shift Back To “Only On PlayStation”?
In a recent episode of the Triple Click podcast, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier claimed that Sony could be “backing away” from launching its traditional single-player exclusives on PC.

“I think for them, their strategy is 'live service games are coming to PC,' but the sense I'm getting is that they're backing away from putting their exclusive console stuff — traditional single-player stuff — on PC.”
He specifically referenced Marvel's Wolverine, the upcoming title from Insomniac Games.
“Even if they don't, Wolverine is coming in September. That's not going to be on PC; that's going to be on PlayStation 5 only,” he said.
When asked whether he believed the game might never launch on PC, Schreier responded that he “wouldn't be surprised” if it didn’t.
“Even if it does, you have a very strong idea of what that is, and you need a PlayStation a play it, at least for the indefinite future,” he added.
Schreier also suggested that Sony may stop bringing major first-party single-player titles, such as The Last of Us Part II, to PC in the future. He noted that Sony’s previous PC releases were never particularly successful to begin with.
Sony’s PC Strategy So Far
Unlike Microsoft’s Xbox division, which has moved toward a broader multi-platform approach, Sony has typically delayed PC versions of its exclusives. Big titles like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, God of War, and The Last of Us Part I eventually made their way to PC after launching on PlayStation.
Some of Sony’s biggest single-player PS5 titles have never made it to other platforms. Astro Bot, which won Game of the Year, is still exclusive to PS5, as is Demon's Souls, one of the console’s early showcase releases.

That pattern continues in 2026. Saros from Housemarque launches on April 30 exclusively for PS5, while Marvel's Wolverine is set to arrive on September 15, also as a PS5-only release.
On the other hand, Sony is taking a very different route with live service games. Helldivers 2 launched simultaneously on PS5 and PC in 2024 and later expanded to Xbox Series X and Series S. Similarly, Marathon from Bungie is scheduled to release across PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X and Series S on March 5, 2026, reinforcing Sony’s broader strategy for multiplayer titles.
