Aadhaar Card Mobile Number Update: One thing that we all dislike is standing in long queues and lines, and one could feel the same while standing in a queue for just getting their phone number or email address changed on their Aadhaar card. But the need to visit an Aadhaar service centre is no longer there. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has come to your rescue, as it has added several new features to its Aadhaar mobile app. In this you can now submit a service request and get your mobile number and email address updated, which is now just a few taps away.
The app has gone through an update recently, and that has made it much more user-friendly and better than before. However, users are having problems accessing services, as locating a few features has been a problem for them. Today we will look into an easy step to get your mobile number and email address updated from the comfort of your home.
Update E-mail Address for Free
According to UIDAI, updating your Aadhaar-linked mobile number through the Aadhaar mobile app still works the same way as before. The only change is that the option has now been moved to the Services section of the app. Starting July 1, 2026, UIDAI has also introduced the option to update your email address directly through the app.
The email update feature is available on both Android and iPhone. UIDAI also says users can update their email address free of charge for the first six months.
Updating your email address
Open the Aadhaar mobile app → go to the Services section → tap Email Address Update → select Continue to Update Email Address.
Now enter the email address you want to link with your Aadhaar → verify it by following the on-screen instructions → once the verification is complete, your email update request will be processed.
Updating your mobile number
Launch the Aadhaar Mobile App → head to the Services section → tap Mobile Number Update → select Continue to Update Mobile Number.
Enter the new mobile number you want to register → verify it using the OTP sent to your phone → complete the remaining authentication steps shown on the screen → once you submit the request, it will be sent to the UIDAI for processing.

Rs 75 For Mobile Number Change
Although, users must take note of a small detail: updating the mobile number will require a fee of Rs 75, and this process usually will require 10-15 days to come to a conclusion; however, the status of the update can be easily tracked through your app as well.
