Telangana Monsoon Update: The southwest monsoon has advanced across the South East Bay of Bengal, South Andaman Sea, and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday, May 13, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which is nine days earlier than usual.

The monsoon season began in India at one of the earliest times, laying the groundwork for its eventual spread over the mainland.

According to YK Reddy, the former head of the Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, who spoke to The Hindu, the early the start in the Andaman area is a crucial sign of the monsoon's pace, even though it technically starts when it arrives over the Kerala coast.

“The monsoon is expected to reach Kerala by May 27, which is also ahead of schedule. From there, it typically takes 7 to 10 days to advance into Telangana,” he said.

“Unless there is a drastic shift in weather patterns, which can happen occasionally, the monsoon should reach South Telangana around June 5,” Mr Reddy said.

He also added that the northern parts of the State could see its arrival two to three days later.

Current forecasts indicate that between June 3 and June 8, monsoon conditions may begin to develop in southern Telangana.

According to him, the monsoon may occasionally stop or slow down after striking Kerala, delaying its passage by a few days.
