1. MahaKumbh Stampede – 29 January 2025
During one of the largest religious gatherings in Prayagraj, a surge of devotees caused chaos during the MahaKumbh when things went wrong near the Sangam. With people pushing forward for holy dips, barricades got broken, and a stampede occurred. The crush turned into a tragedy, about 30 people lost their lives, and many people got hurt.
2. Delhi Railway Station Stampede – 15 February 2025
At New Delhi Railway Station, too many people crowded onto a footbridge due to confusion over train departures. This made some lose balance and start panicking. That sudden rush led to 18 losing their lives, and several getting injured while rushing toward trains heading mostly to the Kumbh Mela.
3. Pahalgam Terror Attack – 22 April 2025
In Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, a group of terrorists opened fire on tourists, asking their religion. This led to a panic that erupted right away. Because of the sudden attack, nearly 28 people were killed while 20 were injured, leaving shock across the nation. 4. RCB Victory Stampede – 4 June 2025
In Bengaluru, people were celebrating the first and biggest win of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL. A crowded parade suddenly turned into a stampede when people started rushing. 11 people died due to this stampede, and many got injured in the scramble. The mood flipped from joy to shock real quick.
5. Air India Crash – 12 June 2025
One of the worst air accidents in recent Indian history happened in 2025. Shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport, Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, crashed, and the plane struck a nearby medical college building. In this tragic accident, 241 passengers and staff members were charred to death, and at least 30 people on the ground and in the building were also killed or injured.
6. Karur Stampede – 27 September 2025
In Karur, during a political rally hosted by Vijay, the founder and president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a large crowd gathering turned disastrous when poor management and narrow pathways caused panic and a stampede. At least 41 people died, and more than 100 were injured, making it one of the deadliest crowd tragedies of the year.
7. Hyderabad-Bengaluru Bus Fire – 24 October 2025
A sleeper bus heading from Hyderabad to Bengaluru burst into flames all of a sudden, possibly due to an electrical fault or a fuel issue. The fire spread fast, locking people inside before they could escape. Over 20 people were charred to death in this incident, and many were injured before the rescuers showed up. Apart from this, many other buses accross the country caught in fire.
8. Srikakulam Temple Stampede – 1 November 2025
During a temple gathering in Srikakulam, people rushed right after a ceremony, squeezing into tight spots. This sudden rush led to a stampede, and 9 people lost their lives while several got hurt, showing how often these holy events face safety problems.

9. Goa Nightclub Fire – 7 December 2025
In Arpora, Goa, a fire spread through a crowded club at midnight. Poor exits alongside safety flaws made things worse, and flames trapped people inside. The disaster left 25 dead with dozens hurt when the building caught fire quickly.
10. Yamuna Expressway Crash – 16 December 2025
On 16 December 2025, a series of high-speed collisions involving multiple vehicles occurred due to dense fog and poor visibility in the morning on the Yamuna Expressway. This tragic collision led to 13 deaths and several injuries, reminding travellers of the dangers of highway travel in bad conditions.
